Breakout 1. Promoting Teacher Learning

Participation in a community of practice and active school leadership are identified as components of an effective context for promoting teacher learning. In this breakout we will model strategies that have been used successfully, including reflections and recommendations, to support the programme of professional learning in the Central North Shore ICT PD cluster. This will include a variety of professional learning activities, teacher inquiry and the use of Web 2.0 tools to develop and support a community of practice.

The cluster blog and wiki are used to communicate, showcase and support both face2face and online community learning opportunities. They also provides links to online resources for teachers as well as evidence for Milestone Reporting.

Breakout 2. eLearning and Inquiry in a Junior Classrooom

Helen Rennie-Younger (Northcote Primary)

In this breakout we will demonstrate how ICT practices have been successfully embedded within an inquiry approach to learning in the junior classroom. This will include sharing how a Year 0 -1 students have used a Digital Diary and blog respectively to record and reflect on their learning during an inquiry on the kiwi and water. Making use of relevant online resources and the benefits of going on a virtual field trip will be highlighted.

Breakout 3. Our Blogging Journey

Leanne Barlow and Stephen Gordon (Sunnybrae Normal School)

We will share our experiences with blogging and the ongoing journey. We will review how we have been able to use blogging as a teaching tool and platform for sharing learning with the wider school community. During this session you will identify the teaching and learning purpose for a blog and thus plan a vision for your own blog. Links to tools and tips for creating your own blog will be shared.
This presentation has been compiled using Inspiration Software and includes links. Download all four files and save in a single folder. Open the File named "Our Blogging Journey" and follow the links. If you do not have Inspiration please email and we will send a compatible file.
